If it feels like the TE position has been rough this year don’t feel bad. It has been. Today we are taking a look at TE ADP (average draft position) and where they are at performance wise. We are at the halfway point in the fantasy season and it is a good time to reflect. Players highlighted green indicate they are outperforming their ADP significantly. Yellow would be not much of a change. Red would mean they are severely underperforming based on their ADP.
Out of our Top 12 Drafted TEs at ADP, we only have 5 in the top 12 for scoring. ARTICLE CONTINUED BELOW TABLE
Biggest Risers
TUCKER KRAFT (GB) ADP 37, Scoring Rank for TE 4th
Kraft has been the steal at the position this year. He moved from his average draft positions of 37th to 4th in scoring. a lot of people were afraid of the rest of the WRs on the team, but Kraft has really carved out a role for himself in this high-powered offense. Despite being the TE4 on the year so far. He is ranked 12th in targets. The 4 TDs he scored are pushing him ahead. If he can continue to get red zone targets, he should stay at the top of this list. If not, expect him to slip back, but not too dramatically.
Cole Kmet (CHI) ADP 16, Scoring Rank 3rd
Kmet has moved from the 16th ADP TE, to 3rd in scoring. he was faded for all of the same reasons we can say about Kraft, except with him you could add rookie QB. Well. Him and rookie qb, Caleb Williams, seem to have established a connection thus far and the results have been great. the way they connected on a few improvised plays was really promising as well.
Risers to keep an eye on
Cade Otton ADP 26, Scoring Rank 13th.
Look for him to climb now no Evans or Godwin. If what happened on the game Godwin and Evans got hurt are any indication of his future use, He is a potential league winner.
Will Dissly ADP 61, Scoring Rank 23rd
More performances like last week he’ll climb too. He is questionable on the week, but we can’t ignore an 8 target game.
Risers Honorable Mention (deeper TE formats)
Brenton Strange ADP 94, Scoring Rank 24th 3 TDs during Engrams missed time
Foster Moreau ADP 82, Scoring Rank 25th FUCK CANCER
Erik All ADP 138, Scoring Rank 36th ROOKIE TO WATCH
Biggest Fallers
Sam Laporta. ADP 2 Scoring Rank 22
Call it a sophomore slump or whatever you want to. Besides big injuries, Sam Laporta has to be the biggest disappointment of the year for this, or almost any position. Last season Laporta got a 20.9% share of the targets. This season he has only received a measly 9.8% of Goff’s passes. Those are table scraps. This dog needs to eat. Hopefully the one good thing that comes out of the Jameson PED suspension is Goff has to throw him the ball, then remembers how good at football this guy is.
Dalton Schultz ADP 13, Scoring Rank 26th
A dropping tide lowers all boats. The Houston offense isn’t bad; however, it is not exactly what it was last year. Tank Dell is struggling as well, and Stroud’s numbers are down. Chalk it up to tougher competition or whatever you like, but no one is happy who drafted Schultz
Evan Engram Taysom Hill We can’t blame injuries for ADP discrepancies. Engram is back and went off in a ten target game in his return, and Hill should be back in a week or two at the most. If he keeps getting goal line work, he could be a top 10 TE to finish the season. But we do this with Hill every season. Don’t we?
Conclusion
It’s been a wild ride at TE this year. If anything, this article reinforces the strategy of drafting your TE late. Out Of the positions in fantasy this year this seems to be the one where there was the latest value. Only 5 players from the top twelve are top 12 ADP are in the top 12 for fantasy points. Next year when you are looking at that TE in the third round remember this.
Until next time, be decent to each other
