Of the four injured parties, two were treated at the site for minor injuries, while the other two required hospitalization. The two that required hospitalization also had reported “minor injuries,” which could bode well for Rice. Upon turning himself in, Rashee Rice now faces the stark reality of the legal consequences that come with such actions. Under Texas law, fleeing the scene of an accident, especially one involving injuries, is a serious offense. Should it be determined that Rice is guilty and that any of the injuries sustained in the crash are serious, he could be looking at a prison term ranging from two to ten years. This is in addition to potential fines of up to $10,000, showcasing the seriousness with which Texas treats these incidents.
On Sunday night, 24 hours after the crash, reporter Josina Anderson reported that Rice has retained a legal counsel and a statement from Rice is expected to be released Monday.
