The cut signals the front office values the receiver, but not at his 2024 price. He has to earn it back on the field, and at 31 years old he is competing with newly signed slot Wan’Dale Robinson and No. 4 overall pick Carnell Tate for targets. During OTA’s, Ridley slipped to third on the target priority list in Tennessee.
Cam Ward, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft out of Miami, closed his rookie year with 3,169 passing yards, 15 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. Three things matter heading into year two. He dropped roughly 10 pounds since last season for a durability play. His shoulder is healthy – Robert Saleh said the arm is “perfectly healthy”. And the early OTA connection is with Tate, not Ridley – beat writers noted that Ward and the rookie hit it off, while Ridley watched from the side.
The supporting cast for Ward is materially better than year one. Brian Daboll is running the offense as OC under new HC Robert Saleh, Carnell Tate at No. 4 is the new outside receiver, Wan’Dale Robinson is locked into the slot, and Daboll’s only on-record comment about the veteran has been the measured “it’s good to have him here” – support without a target-share guarantee.
Tennessee threw 31.8 pass attempts per game last year. A 22-24% target share for the X receiver – the role Ridley played in during 2024 – against a 540-target Titans passing tree equates to 118-130 looks. Knock five percent off for Tate’s rookie share growing through the year and Ridley lands closer to 110 targets on the low end, which historically converts to 60-70 catches, 850-950 yards, and roughly 5 touchdowns. This is assuming all goes well and the combination of Tate/Robinson does not push him down the depth chart by week 1 and Ridley maintains good health.
Ridley is coming off the board at PPR ADP 194 as of late May. Dirt-cheap, deep-bench territory. Ridley is a Round 15-17 dart throw in 12-team PPR where the price already absorbs the downside. Even a 60-catch, 850-yard, 5-touchdown rebound finishes inside the WR40 conversation, which is great production for that cost.
For dynasty managers, the worry is glaring. A 31-year-old recovering from a fibula break is a depreciating asset. The sell-side instinct is justifiable; just price in the volume floor.
The Calvin Ridley titans 2026 case is price-driven. The OTA absence is real – a November fibula plus a 31-year-old veteran is the exact archetype that gets pushed off practice fields in May. The front office could have skipped the restructure. At a PPR 193 ADP, this is a late bench stash with WR3 ceiling if the fibula clears by training camp. If you are targeting him, draft him as the eighth or ninth name in your wide receiver room and don’t reach.
